Young Love

This way or that way who really knows which way is right? I would like to think the guidance I have absorbed at this point has given me some sort of accountability. Okay maybe accountability might be too much. More like a precedence to what I am feeling I want to do in the moment. Yeah that should be the right assessment.
“Johnny your taking to long with those burgers.” Kristina yells from inside their new apartment they just got together. The two have been married for two years and while both thought at this stage they would be looking for a home to get to fill with kids but that has not happened.
“Coming. Perfection can’t be rushed.” Johnny flips the burgers to not over due the one side while taking a swig from his beer. “Did you chop up tomatoes.”
“Of course I did my portion.” Kristina answer as she comes through the sliding door to their porch. She comes from behind Johnny putting her arms around his waste and resting her head on his back.
“Trying to start something.” Johnny gives a slight smirk.
Kristina tightens her arms a little more and slightly inches his shirt up above his belt buckle. “Yeah right.” She releases her arms and heads back inside. “Hurry up with those things will ya.”
“Such a tease.” He shakes his head and begins taking the burgers off the grill.
“Nope, just hungry. See it got you to hurry up.” Kristina smiles from her small victory and moves to the counter to sit across from Johnny’s place. “Do you want another beer?”
“I’m good.” Johnny answers as he comes through the sliding door, closing it and moving to the counter. His puts the food down and holds his wife hand. He looks into her eyes, “How did I get so lucky.”
“No clue.” She leans in towards him and kisses him. Then sits back down and begins serving him his food.
They eat in silence which seems to be a normal thing now. Kristina cannot stand silence when eating so she now as grown accustomed to putting on the music. The two of them have always enjoyed they can eat and not feel the need to talk. Their relationship has been like this from the beginning. Neither thought it was awkward that on their first dinner date they talked, then got the food, and became silent while they ate till they finished. It is a content feeling and both thought it was a blessing. There was just a feeling of being content. They enjoyed their time together and just being with one another. It wasn’t what was happening, what was going on, or what they were doing but they were there.

After about two bottle of win roommate finally calmed down. Thankfully she didn’t go out. I hope she stays in for the day. Maybe it is an upside to not being employed. Where is this train? The platform to this place seems to get grosser everyday but there is just something about the metro that makes me appreciate it. Normally I am not as antisocial as I am now, not like I go up and talk to strangers but I don’t wear head phones and sunglasses while going place to place. But after barely sleeping and waking up it was needed, plus Adele just seemed to be speaking my language today.
Now don’t instantly think girl problems and need to hear broken women songs. That is not the case. Just a soulful voice with a message and good beat. I just-whose touching me?
“Olivia?” I pull out my head phones, take off the glasses and see the new guy.
“Hey, how are you?” He goes in for a hug and without realize I hold me breathe. My heart begins to race and head slightly spin.
“Been good, started packing but then something told me to not go, so I called off leaving and been here.”
“Oh wow! That’s crazy.”
“Yeah, bosses weren’t really happy, or the buddy I was suppose to be living with, but then it just pushed him to take this girl he’s been seen for years with him. So guys everyones made happy.”
“Seems to be that way.”
“Yeah, what about you?”
“Been the usual work grind, figuring out life, you know the works of being twenty four.”
“Ahh yes what it is to be young!”
“Ha, yes young. If only my mind was not that of a fifty year old person. I go to bed at eleven the latest and my roommate thinks I’m insane.”
“Wow eleven, what a crazy thought!”
“I know, getting a little crazy.”
“My roommates are the same. Well he was, keep forgetting he’s now in Canada. But I would want to stay in if I’ve had a long day and just relax with a book or do some drawing and he would think I was the strangest person.”
“Reading?! Who does that anymore?”
“Weird people I guess.”
“Funny story with that. Roommate comes out of her room all ready for this new trendy club while I’m sitting drinking tea and reading. Should could not hide no matter how hard she tried to hold back her judge face.”
“Well then the life of the educated instead of the young.”
“I guess.” Now the train comes. “This you?”
“No I’m the next one.”
“Alright well it was good to run into you again.”
“Yeah same.” Now I go to put my head phones back in and make my way to the train. “Wait.”
“Yeah?”
“Don’t forget your shades.”
“Oh thanks.” How did he get my shades? Guess I’ll awkwardly smile and continue on my way.
When I finally get to my seat I look out and he looks so confused. “What just happened?”

Monica wakes up the next morning feeling so confused. Look at her clock and sees it’s noon. “When did it become noon and how did I get home?”
“It was a struggle but I somehow managed.” Mike is walking into the room just wearing his boxes.” Monica cannot hide the shock on her face. “Don’t worry we didn’t do anything I slept on the couch, and I can’t exactly be wearing my clothes because someone decided it would be a wonderful idea to fall spilling their drink all over me. so wearing a crusty alcohol soaked suit was not happening.”
“I am so embarrassed. I am so sorry!”
Mike put his hand up to stop her. “Don’t worry. You had a lot of questions and kept shocking you that you went with the easy escape.”
“At least I only get drunk once a year or this would be really embarrassing.”
“What was really embarrassing was your friend Andrew coming over and finding me in my boxers in your kitchen.”
“Haha! Oh I will have to call Andrew and explain.”
“He has a key to your place?”
“Yep. He comes here about three times a week in the morning with coffee and we head to work together.”
“That’s cool.”
“Yeah, he’s such an amazing friend, been there for me since I came here.”
“You didn’t grow up in San Fran?”
“Nope came here solo after my parents passed away.”
“Wow.”
“That’s what happens when you nineteen and your parents pass away. But it’s life.”
“Listen I get the no parents thing, they may have been there but they weren’t. Physically there but everything else, no. My dad has no clue about me even leaving New York. I’m not sure he even cares I’m in California. My mom isn’t much better. But it is what it is.”
“I’m sorry. I know doesn’t mean anything but mine were taken and didn’t have a choice while yours do. I know not helping but I couldn’t image in that.” Monica seemed to get lost in a world simply playing with the sheets. Mike take this cue and makes his way next to her just holding her. They stayed like that for the rest of the afternoon. Each getting lost in their own world but not wanting to loss the other person.
The world seemed to pass them by for the day letting them get take out and eating on the floor in her living room to watch a movie, vegged out, and got lost in conversation. Places they wish to travel to, places they’ve been, and making a destination place that they promise they will only go together to. Life they have lived. The life they saw themselves living, or at least that they were meant to have. Things they would have done differently and things they want to do differently now. Mike wants to make a difference for the local teens to have out reaches to feel safe at. While Monica wants to see what the city has to offer. She has lived in San Fransico for about four years and has yet to see all of it if it is not friend or work related she has not ventured over there.
Before either of them realize it they are face to face leaning on the couch with knees almost touching as they lay with blankets around them. Looking at each other unsure of what is come next. They realize it is now dark but neither of them seem to care. The moment has taken them over and all they can do is look into each others eyes wishing this will never end.

“You can never show too much leg. You could show more of those mosquito boobs you have but leg is great.” Monica is video chatting with her sister, whose in Chicago, to help her get ready for the party at Shay’s. She’s looking to impress for the night.
“Trish you sure?”
“Honey you have amazing legs they should be shown to the world.”
“I understand looking good but I don’t want to be easy or a slut.”
“Calm down, I may dress it, you know, slutty whatever but I’m young and single. But you are so conservative. Loosen up a little. You look beautiful. You will turn heads.”
“I hope your right.” Trish goes on to ask all about this boy shoes looking to grab his attention but all Monica says is she’s getting bored with life and feels like she’s seriously missing out on companion ship and hopes to grab some attention to talk to a guy. They leave it on that note but Trish isn’t interiorly convince and Monica does not seem to believe it herself. The right to the party is a blur, Monica is so nervous to see Mike but also not sure if she will. Now she wishes she meet Andrew before hand to not have to walk in a lone.
Monica just stands out the house not sure to walk in. She debates walking in and while starring at the window she hears her name being called. Jay is walking up the driveway with a case in hand. “Ahh that is what I forgot to come prepared for beer in the woods.”
“True, I bring this anytime I come to Shay’s. He doesn’t drink but I feel like the more I bring it sometime he is bound to drink.”
“Wow. Slightly douche.”
“Well, yeah. But I do try to not force it. I just bring it that is all.”
“Then I guess he’s very tolerable.” Monica and Jay just seemed to linger outside of the house. Monica debating to go in a Jay looking like he needs to talk to her. The last encounter was not the best one, and Monica had more than a few choice words to say about it but right now she’s had more on her mind. She’s got a guy on her mind, reading the Bible, and thinking some serious life changes. But let’s have this Jay situation play out.
“If you don’t want to go in a lone I can give you a hand.” Monica gives Jay a once over. Not sure what to say. “I know I am probably not your type but just trying to be a friend here doll.” That gets her.
“I am not your doll. Listen I am not a bitch just going throw stuff so wondering how I even got on this road, this town, and talking to you. Just way to much to think about. Sorry I don’t even know you, but that is why I am standing here and looking at this house and wondering if I should enter.”
“How about I just wait with you. Here.” Jay hands Monica and beer. “Relax a little and we’ll just wait out here.” Monica sits on the stone porch next to Jay and puts her heels next to her.
“So much for showing legs.” Monica says softly.
“What.”
“Nothing just thinking of what my sister would be saying right now.”
“Gotcha, hot many you got?”
“Just her, no brothers. You?”
“I have a brother and a sister.”
“One of each nice.”
“Yep. I’m sure my sister wishes she had a sister but she had two protective brothers instead.”
“That’s nice that your protective.”
“I think so, she doesn’t all the time.” Monica tells him he knows how it is because she’s protective of Trish, especially after they were in a car accident when they were younger. It wasn’t anything major but she promised after that to always protect her. It might not have always been for the best but it was what she knew to do. Jay shared how he’s watch his brothers life always go on the right track and he’s tried to be a good example but he’s brother has turned into his example for his life. Spin on the older siblings role. But his sister has always been the star. She does sports and is at an Ivy League school dating the perfect boyfriend. Her life seems so type A but that is also her personality.
After all there sharing they realize they’ve been outside for a good two hours and drank half the case. Jay figured he might as well bring it in before Shay has to question where all the beer really went. Monica says she’ll wait a minute before going in, she wants to look at the stars which you can’t get a good look at by her. While gazing at the stars Monica feels some ones arm slip around her waist. She does not know this arm but feels as though this is where it belongs. When she turns to see who it could be, it’s Shay.

Been away, was unable to post.

Monica is curled up on the couch eating a pint of Ben & Jerry’s while watching Grey’s Anatomy  off of her netflix. It’s when Meredith and Derrick have broken up because Derrick went with Addison. But now Addison and Derrick are done so they broke up, and Now Derrick wants Meredith. “See this is my life. Well not really.” She hold her stuffed animal that she has had since she was young closer in a pauty way. “I would not be sleeping around to begin with. But she is torn between someone. I keep meeting the same person. Just a different outside. When will I meet my guy.” Monica get up and walks to her apartment window. “The world used to be in front of me. Now I’m looking down at in wondering what on earth I’ve been doing.”
“Just enjoying the view?” Monica jumps from not know who or how someone could get in her apartment. “Sorry didn’t mean to scare you. You left the door open, I got worried someone broke in or something.” Mike is just standing there, not sure if he should turn and walk away or I will let him stay.
“Oh God sorry no! I forgot I had you coming over. Wow I am such a mess sorry. Here let me turn this off and put this stuff away.”
“Is that half baked?” Mike asks pointing to the Ben & Jerry’s Monica is trying to hide.
“Yes. Guilty pleasure.”
“Good choice. I would grab a spoon and do the same.”
“Hey if your down with veggying on my couch and watching grey’s with me, I would be a very happy girl.”
“Where can I get a spoon.”
“I’ll be right back.” Monica goes to the kitchen to grab a spoon for Mike with a huge smile on her face.
“Mind if I sit down?” Mike shouts from the tv room to Monica in the kitchen.
“Not at all. Make yourself at home.” Monica comes walking back in and hands Mike the spoon. Mike has kicked off his shoes and has his feet resting on the table in front of the couch. “Well you sure do look comfortable.”
Mike simply giggles. “Just making myself at home.”
“And that you did.” Monica sits down on the couch indian style to not get too comfortable to make a cuddling situation happening. “Wait I said earlier I forgot you were coming but I don’t believe we ever had plans. I don’t think I even have you number.”
“Oh yeah well I was talking to Andrew last night about getting fundraising together for and organization that I am a part of and he said for me to come speak with you. He says that you love getting involved in that kind of stuff and would know what to do.”
“Oh awesome. Yeah I love fundraisers and putting them together.”
“Okay well since I am clearly a guy and some of the people going are guys and the girls are active, we wanted to do something physical. I know people do concert or gatherings but paying for the food we would have to match then then go from there.”
“So like a race or some sort of competition. You could maybe on people sponsor the food or volunteer to help.”
“That is what we’re hoping. We want something were everyone could be involved and take part in.”
“Are you guys good at sports in general because could do teams for like volleyball or badminton since it’s now summer something outside to get people involved. While that’s going on have other games like ladder ball for those not competing to take part in. Something like a tailgating vibe but with something for everyone. It has to be open and spread for all those you know.”
“That would work. Volleyball people generally go all out for.”
Monica and Mike spent the night talking, both having some wine and talking about how to get the fundraising done. Who to speak to for what. Make notes of what should happen for all this to be done. Mike was told to take care of getting the word out to people for them to get teams together. Made it so teams would have to pay a fee in order to pay and that winners would get a meal paid for. While Monica could work on getting sponsors together to give food, give money because they know it would look good for their business and they would get tax write offs.
They then went on to talk about things they wanted to do with their life. Sharing stories of where they saw their life going. Mike thought he would do well at school and be able to use his degree pay off school and help set up things for those in need. He still wants to do all this but instead he is working with what he can to pay off school and looking for a job. While Monica saw herself living in another part of the country, meeting the one in college graduating together both establishing themselves in the world then settling down where her home is. None has happened for her. She cannot take full course load because live threw her a few curve balls and she is hoping to be finishing school and is single but doing what she loves so what was the point of a the plan besides to meeting someone.
When they turned and saw it was now two in the morning Mike said he should head out. Monica started picking up their glasses and the finished ice cream. Mike helped carry the things to the kitchen and they head for the door. Mike said good night and thanked Monica for letting him and speaking with her. They touched back to his purpose of coming being the fact that he was fundraising. He left and Monica just shuts the door and leans against it. “Wow, he did even try a kiss or a hug.” She shakes her head in amazement with a shy smile and heads to bed.

“What a night.” Andrew roles over hugging Monica. “How’d you sleep?”
“Oh just splendid.” She stretches out. Gives him a kiss on the cheek and makes her way to the bathroom wearing is tee shirt that is a night gown on her. “Score to not waking up with a hang over.”
“You always knew how to avoid those.”
“Fact.” Monica has the truth brush her her mouth giving a coy smile to Andrew. He responds with a smirk to walking up to Monica. He puts his arms around her waste.
“Breakfast?”
“Yes please!” He kisses her neck and makes his way into the next room to the kitchen. “Is it possible to have some french toast?”
“As you wish.” Andrew starts getting the pans down. Monica looks over to Andrews bed. She has slept over here a lot of times but something felt different this time. Andrew stayed by her a lot of the night, which he does when there is drinking to make sure no douche could talk to her. But it was weird when she was talking to Jay, he knew Jay before. He stayed close. I don’t know Jay but with Andrew staying close made me question if Jay was legit about what he said.
Andrew could tell Monica was thinking from her stare. He knew better than to ask. She would put on a different face and talk about whatever was on her mind. Better to let her think and then have her come to him. “Sugar on the french toast?”
“Always.” She puts on a smile and makes her way into the kitchen to sit on the chair with her legs hanging off the side arm. “What did you think of Jay?” Monica ask while looking out the window. Andrew turn while beating the eggs for the toast to be dipped into.
“Which one was Jay?”
Monica turns back, playing with a napkin on the table. Andrew knows this guy was not just someone she is asking about to ask his story. “I was talking to him for some of the night. Maybe a little taller than me, worked for his family.” Monica pausing not wanting to give too much up about him.
“Oh yeah, he seems like a good guy.”
Monica sits up a little higher getting her friend approval. “Yeah I though so.”
“He’ll probably be at the party tonight. I think his close friend is throwing it.”
“I don’t believe he’ll be there.” Andrew looks up from his eyes with a confused faced. Just as he is able to ask, “He’s taken me out on a date.” Monica gives a coy smile. While Andrew almost drops the eyes. “Careful!” Monica jumps up to catch them as if she could save them. But Andrew gains his balance of them. Now Monica is on the floor from trying to run across the room and Andrew is holding the bowl of eggs like a child. They just end up laughing and curled up in balls.
