It all starts in to local coffee shop. Many people use coffee shops to get to know a person and see if there is a chance for a relationship. That is the traditional way to look at things. Well, this was a first time grabbing coffee to share how a relationship was not going to happen.
“I just asked you to go there because I thought you would enjoy it. There was not alternative motive.”
“The way you were talking about it and plans made it come off that you were planning it for just us and had planned for it to mean more.”
“Yeah I thought it would be something that we could do, but I was the one asking.”
“Yeah I know you asked.”
“Right. I am the girl. Me asking, not you. If you had asked it would have been different. There would have been a thought process of maybe this is more than just friends, but it was me.”
“I know, but you made it sound like you wanted more to come out of it.”
“How?” I shift in my car in a slight confusion trying to remember the conversation we had of me asking him to go. I talked it up in excitement because I have good memories of the place and honestly thought he would have really enjoyed going to it.
“You just kept saying how I would enjoy it and didn’t seem like you wanted anyone else to go.” He just sits there seeming so uncomfortable and awkward.
“Honestly that is just how I am. I like getting to know people and building relationships with them so I spend time one on one time with them. In a group you can’t do that. There are just others and distractions, it just makes it hard. I don’t really know what you want me to say. You don’t really know who I am or much about me so you just assumed these were my attentions.”
“Well . . . you would joke about us dating.”
“I also told you it would never work out for us to date.”
“I know.”
“So apparently me thinking we would never date and telling you it wouldn’t work out clearly means that I want to date you.”
“That’s not what I said.”
“I am just trying to understand.” I am trying to hold back my defensive tone but he isn’t being rational. His responses are coming off so quiet and as though he is uncomfortable and doesn’t believe what he says. “If you are making accusations about me liking you and wanting more you should be able to back up your thinking.”
“I just . . . I got, I just got this feeling so I stopped it before it went further.”
“Okay.”
“Yeah so anyway how’s your coffee?” Seriously? This guy really has no back bone.
“It’s good. Listen I am getting kind of tired and I cam here to talk to settle things but you don’t seem interested in doing that.” I begin to move off the seat and he still is just staring at me. Is he really this dumb?
“I thought we did.”
“Do you not talk things out to make them better?”
“I never have before no.”
“Seriously?”
“No. I haven’t.” He just stares and me and shrugs his soldiers like I’m the crazy one/”
“Wow. That is ridiculous. Have you not had a friend you’ve wanted to talk things out with, or even a girl you liked or liked you?”
“I don’t. I just don’t talk about it or to them really and then we just start talking again.”
“Wow that’s really immature. Sorry but it’s true.”
“Thanks.”
“Well, umm, when you want to talk, then reach out, but for now I am not going to waste my time just pushing something under the rug that you brought up. It may seem like I am making a big deal about this, but I can’t believe you brought this up and didn’t expect to talk about it.”
“I just don’t.”
“Just don’t what?”
“Talk about things. I get over it and that’s it.”
“Yeah, well when you have an issue with a person you need to say something to them.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?” I have no idea what to say or think in this situation. Am I being defensive or a typical girl and over thinking things? He’s making me feel like the crazy one. I break my muffin in half contemplating this. He sits there tapping on his drink with his fingers. Just tapping, making no noise but just a distraction in the silence of awkward that has just transpired.
I shift to cross my legs the opposite way leaning back to pull the wrapper off the bottom half of my muffin. Chocolate chip muffins from dunking are always softer than a bakery or bagel shop makes them. It is harder to break and harder to eat. Why did I even get a muffin? The donuts are good enough and I wouldn’t mind having a Boston creme. Ahh my thoughts are all over the place.
Rachel get your head straight. “So how’s that muffin working out?”
“It’s working. I don’t know about the good or bad. Kinda making me think why I didn’t just get a donut.”
“You can still get one.”
“I’m good.”
“Okay, well if your not happy with something you can change it.” Oh the irony.

After puking up the remains of that crap sushi I am laying down on this supper soft bed that feels like a cloud. It is honestly unreal. This day has been so twisted and backwards how can this honestly be happening and keep going? Oh but it can and it is. So lets sum it up. I’ve been killed, taken by guys in suits, jumped through a window, put in a van, interrogated, and now in  suit joint. Am I forgetting anything? Oh right who is trying to kill me?
“Listen buddy. Can you hear me?” Whose talking to me? I turn blankly around and see no one. “Charlie?”
“Seth?”
“Whose Seth? No it’s your father. Why are you in your old room?”
“What?”
“Your sleeping in your old room, what are you doing here?”
“Oh man. How long have I been here?”
“Not sure came in last night and went straight to your room.”
“I’ve been sleeping all day?”
“Yeah. Get a job.”
“What an effed up dream. Now wait crap that means I’m twenty-two jobless, and living at home! Killing people come back!”

Did they think this was my last meal or something? This looks like a meal for about three people. Okay maybe I can eat it all but this is amazing! This would make a sufficient last meal. I wonder if that’s what Jesus thought. Like hey guys could we get a different wine, I want to savior it since I’m dying for all of you. If my mother heard that she would be doing so many prayers right now. But how could you not wonder.
“Eat Brooks.” I know that voice. I turn and see my child hood friend.
“Seth, oh man what are you doing here? Want some food?” I get up we do the bromance hug with smacking each others back to show how close we truly are.
“Brooks how you been my old friend?”
“You know living in Jersey working in the city for a marketing and publishing firm. It’s been good, shouldn’t really complain but can’t help it. How about you. Whatever happened to you traveling the world?”
“Oh I have done a lot of traveling..” I cannot hear the rest of his words because looking into his eyes I see this darkness that has been put in its place that brings chills to my spin. What has happened to my childhood friend? “I came back to the states about a year ago but had been living in Colorado doing rock climbing and of course snow boarding. Remember when we wanted to learn for these girls we thought were so hot?”
“Oh how could I forget? I ended up brakes my arm and spraining her ankle. But I still got her digits in the hospital.”
“Only you man. Now lets eat.” I see him break open the sushi and start eating it. So this should be safe food. Welp if I die at least my last meal was some good sushi. No screw that this taste awful.

Great so I got to this bathroom, next move. This is some serious stuff. Wake up hating my life and wanting something new and I sure did. Dead guy who is suppose to be me. But could this all be a set up? My friends have been telling me for years something needs to give me a slap in the face for me to get my emotional life together. So maybe when we meet I was talking about the people of the office and saying how they love this life and it is not my thing. But I need work and a life. Well work to pay for life I should say but come on, I just saw a fake me dead. Then guys with suits take me away.
Should I be speaking properly? If you expect that then you are looking into the wrong man head. No windows, so trapped. Trapped in my head, trapped in this weird world of today, and trapped with guys in suit. Great.
“Brooks times up.” The office comes in to my cradled in a ball on the floor. Sure I look like a guy who just broke down, but how should I look? “Or I could give you a minute.”
“Nah man.” I jump up and wander out with my hands in my pocket and walking like a hippy/hipster who just had a good smoke. Maybe that is what I missed out on. Only throwing back a few drinks and not doing weed. Seriously Charlie, this is what you decide to debate now. Well it’s started. “Man you ever smoke?”
“Smoke? No I don’t do cigarettes.”
“Not what I’m asking. Weed.”
“Brooks, I work for the government. Not going to share.”
“Right big brother and whatever. Obama smokes so I think your safe.” I turn into the office and the Lieutenant it waiting for me. “Hey man do you smoke?”
“In college, now Brooks have you ever left the country?”
“Yeah typical Mexico, Caribbean and cruise things. So in college you did weed? I feel like I’ve missed out from never doing it, do you think so?”
“Only if you feel like you’ve wasted your life with doing nothing. Doing nothing with your life and it’s not because of drugs is a waste. But Brooks did you have a twin?”
“Nah, only child. I think maybe my parents had a weird love child and never told me. That would probably explain a lot.”
“So as far as you know, there is only one of you.”
“Yeah.”
“I don’t think the world needs another one of you.” In that moment I hear and explosion and the officer suddenly jumps and grabs me shooting the Lieutenant and jumping through the glass. No one is in there but one man. He’s wearing a black suit and calm as ever. Something tells me to trust him.
Mind you trusting a man in all black, by himself behind a mirror where a man has just been shoot, yeah should totally trust him. I am freaking out. “Guess what the effity eff! Do you know what you just did. He, government, of shiiiii-”
“Shut up! We’re only wasting time. Sure he’s not better off dead?”
“He’s who we need.”
“Need for what.” We start running for the window. “Window! Window, nothing below it, We are so not on the first floooo-” The glass shatters around them, the are sailing through the air on about the thirtieth floor. “Hale Mary’s that is what I should probably be doing. Right, Officer that’s what you’d do. Wait your corrupt. I’m flying, no dying in the air ohhh-” Smacking into a foam thing was not my plan to the be through to and air craft. I should totally be that dead guy.

Everyone is frozen unable to move. I thought the worse thing of the day would be being late and dealing with everyone telling me how I’m late. Instead I come to find everything destroyed and a crime scene. Chills are running down my back. My feet feel plated to the floor. My bad is wet. Not a sweat wet. I find blood is dripping down the wall my body has found itself pushed against. Whose the one killed? Who could have done this?
“Sir I need you to come with me.” Oh he’s talking to me. All I can do is stair in confusion. He puts his arm on my arm. “Sir you cannot stay here. How did you even manage to get in. We’ve had the building sealed off for the last fifteen minutes.”
“How long?” I’m focused on the time. That is key to me for some reason.
“Fifteen minutes sir.”
“I was in the parking garage. I was sitting in my car.” I hope this is making sense. The scene going on around me is a blur. I see my desk. There is a man there, a bullet in his head. Was that meant for me?
“How long were you in there?”
“Maybe a half hour, maybe longer.”
“Did you see anyone coming in or out you did not recognize?”
“No. Same people as always.” The officer with me pulls a man by in a suit, I don’t recognize him.
“This man may have seen the killer.”
“Okay. I’m lieutenant Bryant. I sure the next few minutes are to be a blur and your wondering what you just came into. As far as we know. People walked in, they did not open fire, simply had one target. The man who is over at the desk belonging to Charlie, Charlie Brooks. Then people who went to use their phone or on their phone began to be targets. They cam up the elevator but went through the window on zip lines.”
“Did you say Charlie Brooks?”
“Yes.”
“I’m Charlie Brooks.” The lieutenant and officer then look at each other. No sure I am standing and talking to them as I have been the man identified as the one killed at my desk.
“Excuse me but you are saying your Charlie Brooks? Works the logistic department here and does data analysis?” The lieutenant is looking at his clipboard for my life records, Hopefully he hasn’t notified my kin that I am dead. Would be a serious sick joke especially since my mother recently called and she said the only time she’ll get a call from me is hearing I’m dead. I should probably call her. I have at least a day or two to call her back.
“Yeah I do other stuff but I guess that is my official title. Your saying they went on a killing spry after killing me?”
“Yes. Though with telephones.”
“Wow, I knew people wanted to kill me but not that badly.”
“You think you know whose done this?”
“Oh I just meant I tend to piss people off. Not exactly a people person per say. Where are we going?”
“We need to get you out of this office so we are taking you back to the station for now to figure out if this was simply a shooting or a bigger plan.” Who knew.
“Lieutenant I’m going back up to get evidence and to correctly identify the victim. Umm, Mr. Brooks you may want to call your mother and wife.”
“Wife?”
“Yes we called your place and a women picked up identifying herself as your wife.”
“I don’t have a wife. I’m only twenty-three, did she at least sound hot.”
“Mr. Brooks then I suggest you call your mother.”
“Ahh she’s fine I can give her a call tomorrow.” The officer looks so shocked by my manor he simply stars while the lieutenant has to pull my arm and guide me out of the building. I guess this was the life I was thinking of this morning. Now if women did not want to get with me before they totally do now, come on I am suppose to be dead but wrong guys killed. I am wanted dead. Just reached totally bad ass points.
Oh goodness listen to myself. Someone is dead. Not just someone many people because of me. Who would want to get with me? I better call my mother.

Sorry for the wait

You’d think I would learn my lesson the first time. I grew up being a simple kid from the suburbs, went to college, and now have a job in the city. Basically what your told in high school the life you should have and many people try to reach that bar. Now I’m here sitting in my car dreading those minutes ticking down for me to walk into my office and ask how the eff did I get here. Look at my other coworkers walking in. They car pool. All like they’re friends and truly love their lives. It makes me sick. Guess I should get out of my car and head in. Look at my car it’s even a freakin’ BMW. I am the clique of what life I was told to live. I could be all suave and walk in with shades, lock the car behind me and own this building. But I know this building would be an easy hot shot and I could sleep with any girl I choose. Now I’m not a cocky guy but for this office I am one of the people who have a life out of the office, I work out, and I do a lot of volunteer work so I am a freakin’ catch.
The thing is women working in this office have no lives outside of work. All day they work and may go out one weekend night and it’s to blow off steam with girls they party with. Partying women, well they shouldn’t even be called women they are actually girls due to their actions, do not have true friends and don’t know how to be a friend. Why waste my time? Goodness. Take the elevator and be trapped with someone in it and either talk or stand in silence, I’ll that the stairs. This way it is passing by people not chit-chat and these people wouldn’t walk the stairs even if the building was on fire. I know sounds like a stretch but kids with trust-funds come from their own little world. I worked my way here, I commute from Jersey. I place these people probably think traveling from they need shots or something.
One floor down now only five to go. Sure I may be late to my desk but coming from the stairs looks better. My boss will simply look at me ask about the weather or something and then give me two task to do. routine is his thing. Three floors down, three to go. I wonder what could be on the menu this morning for breakfast. Maybe a muffin, or a bagel. Oh the options. Sixth floor. Made it, here goes nothing.
“Back away!” A police man is pushing everyone to the side. I see blood on the walls and shattered glass everywhere. Women crying and people puking. What just happened?!

Monica is walking into the office with more questions going through her head then she thought possible. She goes to the desk to get checked in expecting Tony to be able to bounce these ideas off of but it’s a new person. “Good Morning.”
“Oh hi. Morning I mean, sorry where is Tony?”
“He no longer works here.”
“What do you mean?” The new attendant behind the counter is unsure of what to say.
“He was asked to leave. Something about talking about God in the office.”
“Are you kidding me?!”
“No, I’m sorry miss.”
“Is there anyway I could contact him?”
“I have is number I can give you. It’s such a shame he was the most helpful here. He knew I have been struggling to pay for school and I know he has a big family to pay for but he would offer me hours.” Monica is in awe of thinking she thought this man was simply mean and would pass her by. While she has been the ignorant on and probably is the cause to him losing his job. Monica’s day is a blur. She has no clue what to work on, who to contact, and almost never answered her phone. Mike stopped by to apologize for the previous night and she almost broke down.
“Need to go for a walk?”
“I should do work but I know I wont do any.”
“Come on. I know I don’t seem like a good person to talk to but I am sure I can help.”
“Okay. You’ve gotten a man fired about telling you about God?”
“Just come one. Isn’t there chairs or a park near by?”
“Yeah just out the back entrance.”
“Okay that is where we will wait to talk.” They stay silent through the office, reach the elevators and still silent. Once they reach the air Monica feels more relaxed. “I have not gotten anyone fired from sharing God, however that is why I left my previous job. I have been a Christian my whole life. I never knew what it truly meant till my twenties when I truly needed God in my life.”
“Your a Christian?”
“Yep. Born and raised”
“Then your really blessed to have parents that raised you that way.”
“What about yours?”
“I believe my parents where christians, but they passes away before I could question religion or really come to an age where I knew what God would mean to me and my life.” Monica and Mike continue to sit and take in their surroundings not saying a thing. They get lost in a conversation and Monica asking questions about God and what he means to Mike. Going around debating, not sure what it all means, to before they know it, the sun is setting. Still more that Monica wants to know so they go to dinner together.

“Nice house.”
“Why thank you.” Shay releases his arm from around Monica waist and turns to look at her. “What brings you to the woods.”
“Andrew actually asked me to come here, but I have yet to see him.”
“He’s actually inside. Want to come in.”
“I do but it’s so beautiful here. Sorry we don’t views like this from my apartment.” Monica just continues to gaze up at the stars as if nothing else exist.
“That’s why people come to the woods, it’s something I like to call camping.”
Monica can’t fight back a smile. “Ha, ha. Very funny.” The two simple continue to stand outside neither wanting to turn or move just being comfortable with the silence. Shay turns to Monica about to say something while someone beats him to the punch.
“So you do make it out here.” Mike is coming down the stairs holding a Mike’s which isn’t exactly mainly but Monica can’t help the girlyness of the drink.
“I can get away from my comfort zone.”
“What brings you here?”
“Andrew asked me to come.”
“Right. Did you get to read over my folder?”
“No.” Which is a lie Monica read over every detail Mike left and started making an outline of what to send back to him and where he should look.
“Oh I guess your really busy then.”
“No. Just not sure what kind of read I get from you and it makes me question working with you. Sure it’ll have your name to it, but my name will also be out there.”
“Ahh yes your precious name.”
“Sorry to interrupt but do you guys need a moment?” Shay is starting to back away unsure of where this conversation is coming from or what is with all the tension that came into the air.
“No, Shay you can stay out here with Mike I was just heading in.” Monica goes p the steps and makes it to the door frame when Mike is suddenly next to her. “Can I help you.”
“Yeah, I think I want to take you out for a date.”
“I’m not the kind of girl you think of doing something with. You either have the balls to ask or you don’t.” Monica just steps into the party leaving Mike at the door.

Monica went to work spoke to Tony as she entered. Shared with him what she had read and what chapters had changed her view. Still unsure of what all these things mean to her, Tony simple shares for her to not rush it and to continue reading. He is no expert so tell her to seek a place out that she feels called to. Monica agrees to this and heads to her office. Before looking for a place that calls to her, which she is unsure of what that could possible mean, she does the research she promised to do for Mike.
“What is with this thing?” Monica is clicking all over her computer for the website she uses for simpler researching of fundraisers and it does nothing.
“Bad time?” Monica turns to see Mike standing at her office door.
“Oh no, sorry just trying to actually look up the information I said I would do for you.”
“Ahh, well thank you so much. I did some of my own.”
“Awesome. I honestly meant to do this for you yesterday but life gave me a slap in the face so I had to put it off.”
“Alright. In a good way.”
“You know I think so.”
“Well that’s always good.” Mike unsure of what to continue on saying goes and hands the folder he’s brought with all the research he has done.
“Oh right, getting straight to business. Listen not sure what your expecting to do or anything-”
“I have everything laid out there with my ideas. Read it over and give me a call.” Mike just turns and head to the elevator. Monica is unsure how to think of this. Should she follow him or, she’s up and heading to him.
She catches him at the elevator, “that’s it?”
“Excuse me?”
“Your just going to walk all the way to my office, hand me this, and then be done?”
“Monica I know your business didn’t mean it in a rude way. Honestly.” Mike looks serious at Monica and questions lingering on his face of wondering why she’s so hurt by what just happened.
“I’m sorry. I guess I am just, I, there is just a lot of my mind. I will read this over and give it back to you.”
“Thanks.” The elevator opens and Mike steps on in. Gives an awkward wave and the door shuts.
“And that lady and gentlemen is how you make a complete and total ass of yourself.” Monica phone goes off with a text from Andrew, done for party tonight at Shay’s? Shay is friends with Mike, Monica just made an ass out of herself to him. Probably not. I’ll be there.

Monday, June 13, 2011

Monica is walking down the street to work, still with the biggest smile. She’s turning to work seeing the security guard that always gives her an issue. Still keeps her smile on, gives him a big grin, “Morning Tony, isn’t today beautiful.”
“Yeah yeah.” Tony just sits on his stool with his book. Monica stops.
“You know Tony, I have seen you almost everyday for about two year and I don’t know the slightest thing about you. Do you have any kids?” Tony is so taken back from Monica even talking to him. Even more so by her asking about his life.
“I have been happily married for twenty three years. We have three children.”
“Wow that’s amazing. How many boys and girls?”
“Two boys, the first born is Anthony Jr. The the middle is a girl.”
“That’s awesome. How old are they?”
“Umm. Two in high school and one entering their second year of college.”
“Where does Anthony Jr. go to college?”
“He goes to school here in the San Fransico University.”
“That’s amazing. Congratulations! Welp Tony before I’m late for work I’m going to catch the elevator but it was great talking to you. I’ll see you on my lunch break and ask about your other son and daughter.
“Alright Monica.” Monica makes her way to the elevator and she goes about her work for the day. She meant what she said with coming down on her break and talking to Tony about his two other children. The daughter is going to be a senior in high school, she is looking to get a soccer scholarship to Notre Dame. He grads could get her in but she wants to play where ever she attends school. He is pushing for the education, but knows he’s daughter will make the right choice. His son will be a junior and he plays basketball, not very well but it is his passion. He is not sure what he wants to do yet so they are for him doing a gap year so he doesn’t rush into anything.
Tony meet his wife doing missions work. Monica talked to him about what he’s done on mission and what made him want to do that and push him to do this work. Talking about Tony’s missions trip actually made Monica after work go and buy a Bible to see what made Tony want to give months of his life doing work for this cause. She spent the night reading chapter after chapter and being torn. She wept. Got angry. Needed breaks but in the end stopped and just reflected.
When Monica woke up she say her bed all disheveled with the notes she had taken, her computer, and the Bible. Will all this she does not know what she has woken up to and all she can think to do is put on clothes to go for a run, grab her ipod, and leaves.

“How did this happen?”
“Are you really asking that? She was brought up in a broken home “
“Don’t put this on us. She is the one that choose to open her legs.”
“Really Andre?”
“Yes.” He then storms off to the porch looking at the street. Desiree is over with Zola. Taisha begins cleaning the kitchen not knowing what to do besides clean.
“Who could be the father? The only boys I’ve seen here was Jeremy and some other boy. Jeremy is only five years older than her but still wrong because she is a minor. He wouldn’t have done that. Right?” Taisha pauses scrubbing the counter, throws the rag and heads for the door.
“Where you goin’?”
“I need to do something. Desiree please come with me.”
“Where we going?”
“I think it’s important for you and I to talk come with me.” Desiree says good bye to Zola, looks over to her father not knowing what to say so turns and walks with her mother. “I don’t just want to jump into things but have you been dating this boy that’s the father?”
“Yes. We were seeing each other and legit I feel like I am in a Taylor Swift song.”
“Taylor Swift?”
“She’s basically a girl that sings songs about breaks ups, you’d love her.”
“Thanks sweetie.”
“Sorry, that was a bad dig. But still you’d love her. Ma’ what am I suppose to do? I know the father wont want to do anything. You and daddy constantly fightin’ and we come from a bad area. I don’t want to be a single mom and have this baby have half a life or not even that of what I had. I didn’t have it easy for sure but I couldn’t image raising someone to have less than I did. I am only fifteen. I would have no college degree. I have no work experience.” Desiree falls to the ground clinging her stomach. “Ma’am what am I to do?! Why did you choose to keep me? You were only seventeen when you meet daddy. But you graduate high school, went to college, got married, and then had me. You raised me right in that way. I want my daughter to have that to look up to. Why did I do this? I barely knew him. I don’t know what I did it. Why did I do that.” Taisha feels the pain of her daughter and all she can is hold her tight wanting to take this all from her. “Mom I’m so sorry.”
“No, no I’m here for you.”
“I was so stupid he was older and told me that he loved me. I don’t even know what that means.”
“When your emotional those are the only three words you want to hear.”
“Ha, yeah. And he has a stupid name anyways. What kind of name is Jeremy. Seriously.” Taisha body tightens up a little bit.
“Jeremy? Is he in your class?”
“Np he’s older, graduated. I was such an idiot.” Desiree begins to awkwardly laugh. “Remember that time I came home and yelled about a naked boy in the bath room?” Taisha nods her head. Of course she remembers she thought Jeremy was waiting for her. “Well I didn’t want you to get mad at me so I freaked out and had him leave. I was so silly.”
“No you weren’t sweetie.”

Monday, May 2, 2011

“Taisha why in the hell was that boy in your room?”
“He just stops by every so often. Nothing serious.”
“You were seeing him.” Andre can’t hide his shock.
“Don’t be so surprised Andre. I was and am a single women.” She licks the whip cream seductively gives Andre a little look then graces his side. “You just hate that someone else has had me.” Andre then grabs her arms pulls her close giving her a passionate kiss.
“He may have had you, but I’ve always had your heart.” This makes Taisha melt and she wants to give up everything to him now. They begin to kiss as though the rest of the world does not exist.
“Well look at you two, it’s like when you were teenagers all over again.” They both jump at the sound of Zola. Both hang their heads a bit when seeing Zola. “Now that you are back to grown ups do you know what this is doing to your daughter?”
“Desiree? She knows?”
“Yes ma’am. Saw you two this morning.”
“Oh crap!” Taisha put her hands on her head. “We didn’t want her to find out like that. We were both going to talk to her today when she got home and tell her.”
“Tell who what.” Desiree is walking through the door looking like she just ran the three miles from Andre’s to here. They all just tense up a bit and look at Desiree.
“Oh hey honey.”
“Honey? Oh god who died?”
“No one died.”
“Desiree just listen to your mother and sit over here.” Desire gives her father a look, angry but still does as she’s told. Then suddenly puts on a smile like nothing had happen and all is right in the world.
“Yes parents. What is this lovely news you must share with me.” She then puts her hands under her chin and bats her eyes.
“Desiree this is serious.”
Desiree clear her throat and leans back. “Of course.”
“Your father and I wanted to tell you that, we’re getting back together.”
“About time! I can’t have this baby belong to a single mother and divorce grandparents.”

Me again. Enjoying all these fun times of my life. I know typical girl journal right. Or at least Hollywood movie. Annoying right? But yeah this was my life. Kelly story of a time of drama! But come one isn’t it good? You just want to know who I end up with. Do I end up with anyone? I may just be screwed over. But that is just to confuse you. I needed to give myself a break from figuring all this out. I thought you might too. Now a lot of all this mess has slightly died down. I didn’t say it is all figured out. Just died down. Or at least that is what I am telling myself. Now that is not to confuse you just how I simply see the situation.
So who are you rooting for the nice guy or Josh? The nice guy did take me out on a good date. We did have fun. My mother tells me that maybe he was just nervous about everything and that is what’s going on. Don’t think I tell my mother everything but if a guy comes to take me out on a date and I say it isn’t going to happen again she is going to put in her input. It’s a mothers thing I guess. She knows nothing about Josh. Goodness privacy people. I don’t know do you guys really think he is simply nervous. He is extremely conservative, maybe a little sheltered and no used to girls like me. I don’t mean to sound conceded but I am kind of a rare girl with the way I think and talk if you couldn’t tell by being inside my mind!
But yeah are you sick of hearing my thoughts and just want to see where things go with Josh and the nice guy? I figured.

Phone Call
“Hello.” Waking up with a morning groggy voice to answer the phone. Didn’t even check the id.
“Kelly, hey is this a bad time?”
Yes. “No, what’s up?”
“I just wanted to explain myself from the other night. Would you be free to grab coffee later?” Who is this? Oh wow nice guy. Right. What does he need to explain? Why is he calling me? Oh right caused I got angry about his asking me about drinking. Why the hell would he ask me about that? He’s crazy. This will be interesting to hear what he has to say.
“First what is today?”
“Saturday.”
“Okay I should be. What time?” Give me time to wake up shower.
“Does two work?”
“What time is it now?”
“It is noon.”
“That should give me time to shower and get out of bed. Where?”
“This twenty questions?”
“Good sir do you want to meet for coffee?”
“Yes.”
“Then yes it’ll be twenty question since you are to make the plans and I simply show up. If not then I will return to my slumber and will see you when I see you.”
“Alright. I hear you. Two in coffee shop on the corner of glen and oak. That work for you Ms. Who Enjoy Her Slumber?”
“Yes. I might be fifteen minutes late though” give a pause for him to sign in his mind but not enough time to respond, “kidding. Now jumping in the shower so bye!”
“Your crazy. See you soon.” Now lets get some banging music for me to shower to and some adorable sweats so it does not look like I’m trying but makes my ass look awesome for him to wonder why on earth he would ever talk to me the way he did. Nahh not worth him wanting me more. Just jeans and boring top.
Oh crap I’m suppose to meet Josh later! Was that this afternoon?! Well nice guy best be quick so I can make it to Josh’s. Guess you’ll be getting a more dressed up look then you were expecting. Enjoy it.

Reality
Has my head back handed you enough? Yes these are different days. The one with Josh and I was before the date I had with the nice guy. I know my brain jambles around and maybe you realized what was going on but who freakin’ knows. But this is my story. The Kelly story. This is my life. And now here I am, it is the end of the week. I have not seen either one of them and I am about to see both of them. Together. No friend to take with me. Going solo to a party with no clue what to expect. I could go and talk to the nice guy, but who wants to lead anyone on. Or I could talk to Josh and see what happens.
I could take longer to get ready. That would really delay things. That wouldn’t be right. But before telling you about life now, we should get back to how I got here.
Ride Home
“Again sorry about the movies being sold out.”
“Oh no it’s fine. I am just exhausted.” I truly am. I barely sleep anymore and I was at work all day.
“I understand. I’m tired too.” Yeah if only I was not only physically tired. Tired of this conversation and just want to run home. It is not too far of a run. Wait that’s too obvious. “Thank you again for going out with me.”
“Oh no problem.” No problem? Did I seriously just say that? At least he knows the way back to my house so I am not that strained for making a conversation. I guess this shouldn’t really go anywhere. Just get me home. It is only a quick drive. Oh there is my street. You have not looked this good in a long time. So close. I can’t just run out of the car that is simply awkward. “Okay well thank you again for getting me.”
“It’s no problem. And for the final thing in this evening which I have never done before.” Oh God please don’t be a kiss, please don’t be a kiss.
“Umm, what?”
“Walking you to your door.”
“Ohh. Well front door is always locked and we don’t have a key for it.”
“That’s fine.” I will not kiss you! This could seriously be awkward!
“Kelly?” Okay why did I just hear Josh. “Kelly!” I turn and see him pulling into my drive way.
“Who’s that?” Nice guy, so sweet. Now worlds are colliding.
“Friend from school. Thank you again for tonight sorry I have to deal with this.”
“Are you sure you don’t want me to stay.”
“It would probably better if you leave.”
“Okay give me a call later.”
“Will do.” I just stand there as he makes his way back to his car and Josh gets out of his and starts walking towards me. This cannot be good.
